Day Surgery at St George’s to end on 19th February 2019.
It is with sadness that we confirm that the outreach surgical services at St George’s will cease from 19th February 2019.
Queen Elizabeth Hospital face significant pressures and the hospital’s Trust Board has made the decision to withdraw outreach services because they are no longer considered viable.
We have tried our best to retain the clinics here because we know many patients and families appreciated and benefitted from the service, but to no avail.
We will be talking to local providers and commissioners about alternative services that might be run from St George’s.

Huge thank you to Pulse Charity
St George's would like to say a huge thank you to Pulse charity for purchasing the practice a new lung function assessment spirometer. Our thanks also to anyone and everyone in the Littleport community who support Pulse's superb fundraising work in any way.
The spirometer will get lots of use, not least in the new respiratory clinic we are trialling. This clinic will allow people who have lung conditions such as asthma and COPD better access to our respiratory nurse leads and, if successful, will help our work ensuring everyone has an annual review.

Accreditation awarded - GP training practice.
We are absolutely delighted to announce that, following full inspection and staff interviews, St George's has been awarded accreditation to be a GP training practice. This means the team and the service are considered good enough to train new GPs.
Dr Zoe Hutchinson qualified last year as the lead GP trainer, and Dr Baker and Bolina will be associate trainers.
The trainees are qualified doctors, who have decided to do further training to specialise as GPs. We hope to have our first trainee doctor start with us in 2018.

Cheffins Oncology Suite
Stephen Barclay MP officially opening the Cheffins Oncology Suite on Friday 2nd May 2014.
It was a very proud day for everyone involved in bringing oncology services to St George’s. The practice has formed a partnership with Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge to provide oncology services closer to home. This will mean that patients (providing they are suitable) from Littleport and the surrounding areas will no longer have to travel to Cambridge for chemotherapy.
One of the rooms on the first floor at the practice has been especially adapted to offer a quiet and comfortable area for patients to receive their regular treatments. The nurses from Addenbrooke’s Hospital will attend the surgery, initially, once a week when they hope to be able to treat up to 15 patients a day.
