Anglian Water say that from time to time some customers will need extra special care and that’s just what their WaterCare service offers.  It is available to a wide range of Anglian Water customers, from nursing mothers with children under the age of one to kidney dialysis patients who have a dialysis machine at home; customers who have sight or hearing difficulties to those who are frail and elderly or classed as disabled.  Visit their website for more information and details on how to register.

A website offering help and advice to people covering a range of day-to-day needs with information localised for people living in Cambridgeshire.  AskSARA is a self help guide that takes users through a set of guided questions leading to general advice and recommendations on equipment that might meet their needs, including information on manufacturers and local suppliers.

This service provides a range of technological devices to support people and their carers to address challenges to everyday living and enhance their independence, from the most simplistic pill reminder to the more sophisticated Activity Data Monitoring systems.

The service helps to prevent hospital or residential admissions where possible. The team take referrals from anyone, for anyone, for all ages and any diagnosis. Once a simple referral form is completed (found on their website), an ‘assessments of needs’ is carried out; the equipment is then sourced and supplied.

The services is used by anyone whose independence or quality of life would be enhanced through remote monitoring i.e. fall detection/alerts, medication reminders/dispensers etc.

Donate to Charity - Charity Choice is a website for individuals and businesses to donate unwanted items, gifts, end of lines, seconds and samples to charity.  It could be anything from an old furniture, beds or blankets through to end of season clothes – the charities really appreciate it.  List your unwanted items on the website, include a photograph if you wish, then the Charities will contact you if it is something they can use and you can make arrangements for it to be collected.

EnergiZe - 01480 376300
EnergiZe is a community-based weight management programme for families with children aged 7 – 11 years old, who are above their healthy weight. The programme runs for 12 weeks in various community locations across Cambridgeshire. Each week, families take part in interactive healthy lifestyles workshops followed by an activity session with an EnergiZe coach.

Eye Conditions - If you have a problem with your eyes such as sore eyes, red eyes or visual disturbance, you can be assessed and treated by and accredited Optometrist with the Minor Eye Conditions Service.  Click here for a full list of the accredited Optometrists within the Cambridge and Peterborough CCG area.  This is a FREE NHS service.

The main way that food is donated is though ‘Supermarket Collections'.  Once collected, the food is sorted by volunteers who check it’s in date and pack it into boxes ready to be given to people in need.  Care professionals such as doctors, health visitors, social workers, Citizens Advice Bureau staff, welfare officers, the police and proabation officers amongst others identify people in crisis and issue them with a foodbank voucher.  Foodbank clients bring their voucher to a foodbank centre where it can be exchanged for three days supply of emergency food.

Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) -  If you care for someone else there may come a time when you have to manage their affairs. There are two types of LPA.

A Property and Affairs LPA enables you to make decisions on someone else's behalf about their property and affairs when they are no longer able to do so.  This can include paying bills, managing a bank account or selling property. 

A Personal Welfare LPA enables you to make decisions on someone else's behalf about their health and personal welfare, such as giving consent to medical treatment or deciding where they should live.
